Black spot is spread when water splashes the fungus from infected debris onto lower leaves of the plant, thus allowing more leaves to be affected as new growth developes. (New spores develope in 11 days).

Lawn watering is much more effective if it is done less often but with larger quantities of water. A thorough soaking 1-2 times a week rather than a little every other day will promote deeper root growth and therefore your lawn will weather the summer droughts much better.

Perennials, although relatively self sufficient, still need fertilizing. A safe way to ensure your plant material is getting the nutrients it needs is to use a mild fertilizer such as Miracle Gro. Just to be sure to follow the mixing instructions. Too strong of a mix will cause an opposite effect on most plants.
