Barley
straw, when placed in water, will
begin to decompose. Eco friendly
chemicals are then released into
the pond and begin breaking down
the cell walls of algae. Barley
straw is not a "quick-fix".
It can take four to six
weeks for the barley straw to
begin decomposing. |

| Black spot
is spread when water splashes the fungus from infected
debris onto lower leaves of the plant, thus allowing more
leaves to be affected as new growth developes. (New spores
develope in 11 days). |

| Lawn watering
is much more effective if it is done less often but with
larger quantities of water. A thorough soaking 1-2 times
a week rather than a little every other day will promote
deeper root growth and therefore your lawn will weather
the summer droughts much better. |

| Perennials,
although relatively self sufficient, still need fertilizing.
A safe way to ensure your plant material is getting the
nutrients it needs is to use a mild fertilizer such as
Miracle Gro. Just to be sure to follow the mixing instructions.
Too strong of a mix will cause an opposite effect on most
plants. |
